The recent Primary Elections were of critical importance to Georgia and public education stakeholders. Georgia’s public education system is unable to provide our children with the “adequate public education” that is promised in the Georgia Constitution due to the lack of state funding. GAE recently provided its members with a list of candidates that had been recommended by its Fund for Public Education Committee (FPE, the committee which considers and approves local Senate and House recommendations and interviews statewide candidates and makes recommendations to the GAE Board of Directors on which statewide candidates the Association will support). This committee is comprised of GAE members from across the state who represent the interests of their fellow members.

What’s Next?
The GAE-FPE will conduct meetings to determine its recommendations for the General Elections to be held in November. Recommendations provided by the FPE Committee are made in the best interest of GAE’s members and public education. We hope that you will consider GAE’s recommendations as you make your final voting decisions.
Georgia needs strong public education officials to provide the tools necessary for success in the 21st century market. We are supporting candidates who will demonstrate not only the political will necessary to make Georgia competitive but who also have the knowledge and capabilities to plan, implement, and build consensus on controversial issues.
